About Guana Cay

Guana Cay is a beautiful out island in the Abaco, Bahamas.  The island is 7 miles long and about ¼ mile wide.  On the East Side of Guana Cay is the Atlantic and on the West Side is the Sea of Abaco.  The island is home to about 100 residents.  The rest of the people are made up of second home owners and tourist.  This island is the most convenient island to stay on if you would like to go Island hoping to Hope Town, Man O’ War, Treasury Cay, or Green Turtle.

The gin clear water on top of the 3rd largest reef, next to one of the top 10 beaches in the world, make Guana Cay like no other island in the Bahamas.  Not only does Great Guana have the best reefs and beaches, it also has the best Beach Bars in the Bahamas.

Nipper’s is arguably the most famous beach bar in the Bahamas!  Hooters chose the beach in front of “Grandview” and Nipper’s to shoot it 2008, 2009, and 2010 Calendar shoot.  They also tried to copy Nipper’s for their pool area at Hooter’s Casino in Las Vegas, I’m sure they found Nipper’s could not be duplicated.  There can only be one real Nipper’s, and this is the real thing.  Grabber’s is also another beach bar at Guana Cay.  Grabber’s is neck and neck with Nipper’s; it just depends on where the wind is blowing from that day.  Nipper’s is located on the Atlantic, and Grabber’s is located on the Sea of Abaco.  The sunsets from Grabber’s are as pretty as any I have ever seen.  This is why their name is Grabber’s @ Sunset Beach!!  You also have Pirates Cove located right on the Harbour’s edge.  This is the newest Bar to the settlement.  The food is wonderful and the ice cream is cold.  On the South side of Settlement Harbour you have Orchid Bay Marina.  Orchid Bay was developed by W.B. Johnson; he also started the Ritz Carlton Hotel Chain.  This is a very upscale Marina & Restaurant.  Last but not least, you have Baker’s Bay located on the North end of the island.  This is a brand new development that will have about 180 slip marina and a Tom Fazio Golf Course.  This will probably be the nicest marina anywhere in the Bahamas.  It is not unusual at all to see the mega yacht’s docked in this marina.  Last weekend I saw April Fool and P-2 both at the dock.  I believe both of these yachts are in the top 100 of the world.

As you can see Guana Cay has it all!  You can be as secluded as you would like or mix and mingle with friends and meet the locals.  There is no crime to speak of on Guana Cay and many of the houses are left unlocked.  Transportation on Guana Cay is by foot, bike or golf cart.
